I have lived in Cleveland, OH for over 20 years and not until today did I get to experience some of the best local chocolate I have ever had at Mitchell’s Fine Chocolates.
Mitchell’s is located in Cleveland Hts., OH and has been for almost 80 years. How is it possible that I, a chocoholic have missed out on this decadent hand crafted confection? There is really no good answer to that question but now that I have found them they will be my go to specialty chocolate store.
I had the privilege of getting a tour of the production kitchen by the owner. How impressive to see the trays upon trays fo endless chocolate confections being hand dipped, decorated and wrapped. They employ the old school way of chocolates making, techniques that are a lost art. Bowls of tempered chocolate line the production area with some kitchen equipment I couldn’t identify, probably because they are the original pieces from 70 years ago.
The owner and chocolatier also pointed out that many of their unique pieces like their orange peel, ginger and apricots are imported from some of the best regions of the world. The recipe he follows for the dark chocolate is the founders original and has never been changed. They do a few secret unique tweaks to enhance it for a hauntingly rich, decadent and smooth taste experience.
My sample box included chocolate covered cherries, an assortment of dipt homemade marshmallows, coconut clusters and the amazing raspberry jels. Just so many choices I was literally the kid in the candy store.

The prices per pound are warranted when you know all the love, time and talent put into creating their chocolates. The ingredients they use are all high quality, this is not your average local chocolate store.
